About Penley Framing Studio

My name is Stephan Lyall Penley, owner of Penley Printing & Framing. I started Penley Framing Studio with one goal in mind: to make the custom framing process easier, more accessible, and more visual for everyday people.

Custom framing can be difficult to picture before the final piece is built. Even in a physical frame shop, it can be hard for customers to fully visualize how their artwork will look once the frame, matting, and glazing all come together. Many customers also need more time to compare options and feel confident in their decision.

Penley Framing Studio was created to solve that problem.

This platform gives customers the opportunity to build their own custom frame online and see a proportional visual preview of how their finished piece will look. The goal is simple: what you design on the platform should arrive in the mail looking as close as possible to what you saw on screen.

The idea first started as a tool for my own in-person framing customers. I wanted to give people a better way to visualize samples in my shop and compare different framing options before making a final decision. When I searched for a tool that could accurately show frames, mats, and artwork together with the level of customization I offer in real life, I realized that nothing quite existed in the way I needed it to.

So I decided to build it myself.

Through Penley Framing Studio, I want to provide high-quality archival custom framing to people who may not be able to physically visit my shop. Whether you live too far away, need more time to decide, or simply want the convenience of designing from home, this platform gives you access to the same kind of customization you would expect from a traditional frame shop.

My dream is to make custom framing feel less overwhelming and more accessible, while still preserving the craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail that every piece of artwork deserves.
